POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Intern will participate actively in telling the stories of work being done in Washington and around the world to protect and restore natural resources for people and nature. The internship will focus on social and digital media with the opportunity to experience all aspects of marketing including directly leading at least one project. This is a short-term, 6-month position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Marketing Intern will work collaboratively with other team members on the following essential functions:

  • Writing, editing, locating photos, creating posts for blog and social media.
  • Helping conceive and execute marketing campaigns.
  • Assisting in ensuring campaigns reach target audiences including diverse communities and help with metrics tracking and reporting to demonstrate campaigns’ successes.
  • Assisting in all aspects of storytelling while learning marketing functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • With direction from digital media manager to act in support of social and digital media output.

  • With direction from other marketing leaders to learn their functions (marketing campaigns, earned media, etc.) while supporting the team.

  • Lead and shape one or more campaigns, with direction from marketing director and others.

  • Participate in brainstorming and planning marketing initiatives.

  • Support execution of initiatives through content creation (writing, editing, photo selection, video shooting or editing) and Conceive and execute innovative outreach to diverse communities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

In your resume and cover letter, please address how you meet the following minimum qualifications and preferred knowledge, skills and experience:

  • College junior or senior, or college graduate

  • Experience managing a digital or social media channel (could be school, social or club channel. Does not have to be professional)

  • Applicants will be required to submit a writing sample which may be social media postings, web content or non-fiction writing.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Blog or website development — HTML, CSS, Javascript (optional)

  • Video and photo shooting and/or editing — Photoshop and Final Cut Pro working knowledge

  • Up to date on digital and social trends and best practices
